Biography
Itamar Asaf Tal plays a wide variety of styles and instruments: flutes, percussion and stringed instruments. He is a singer songwriter, composer, a music producer,
and an ethnomusicologist, recently invested in entrepreneurship mostly in music and education.
Included among the musical instruments played by Itamar are Middle Eastern, Indian, Chinese, African, South and North American drums, flutes and strings combined with modern synth keys and software - which allow a wide range of traditional and modern tones from all over the world.
Itamar has specialized in playing ancient Persian / Bukharin rhythms for 9 years, often drawing inspiration from drummers, musicians and composers from all around the world. this added to the long length rock and funk drumming and singing, seasoned with original style of flute playing flavored with world music touches.
Itamar studied music at the Faculty of Musical Education at Levinsky College in Tel Aviv for 7 years and while there, was a significant part of the College's representative ensemble for 3 years. There he conducted research into the poetry of the Jews of Cochin, a small and ancient community (2500 years), located in southern India.
In his studies he has also explored Spanish and Ladino melodies, the philosophy of the Russian National Jewish music School, the history of Western music, and the history of Jewish-Israeli music, western music theory, south American ensembles, music in the film industry, opera and musicals, modern music analysis, improvisation, music criticism, Structure Analysis, traditional harmony, composition, choral conducting, band training, ethno-musicology, pedagogic aspects of musical education, philosophical aspects of education, Developmental Psychology, cognition, rythmusic, Orf and Kodai, Aspects of special education, Study planning and editing.
Itamar received a scholarship of excellence for these studies.
Throughout his years as a performing musician, Itamar has learned from the best music teachers in Israel and played in a large number of diverse musical ensembles, orchestras, choral, and rock bands with first-rate musicians on professional performance stages.
